The sports cards should sell at twice the original price if they are about 10 years old, and in near mint condition. That is a large collection, but if he has any special player cards, he should set them aside, or do some research on the web about specific cards. There are plenty of sites that go into detail about player cards and their value. This is just a very rough estimate, but it is possible the cards are worth more than twice the original price. The comics vary. It depends on the title, as well as condition. If he knows he has a key issue, say like Spider-Man #129, then he should sell it separately. A good idea is to get a copy of a book called OVERSTREET'S COMIC BOOK PRICE GUIDE. These are often available at libraries as well as regular book sellers such as Barnes & Noble. This book lists pretty much every comic book ever published, and gives current prices based on age, rarity, key issue designation, condition, and the buyers' market. He should try to sell them based on the prices listed. It would be a good thing for both of you to get this book, and also to possibly visit a sports memorabilia store in your area with a list of the cards he has, and ask the employees a general estimate of what the cards might be worth. Good Luck.

Does he want to sell them, or are you TELLING him to sell them? Most collectors wouldn't want to part with there stuff.

Are you being like Steve Carrell's girlfirend in the "40 Year old Virgin"? ;)
