It was founded as a way that all member nations could resolve any issues between themselves by using pressure from friendly nations.

I'm afraid I can't recall any surceases and I'm 50. I can tell you this. Like the many social programs we have in this country, UNICEF run by the UN was going on when I was a kid. I collected money for poor children all over the world. Here we are some 40+ years later and there still using the same countries to collect money for. You can't just throw money at these kind of problems and expect any results. They are serious problems that require a strong program to train and rewire the peoples thinking.

the un was founded to try and bring together and solve the worlds problems, but it was never going to work because all the countries on the security council at the time have to unamanously agree to everything.

so as long as the yanks have vito power on the security council its not going to go anywhere :)
