I haven had my period in six months. I have taken a few HPT and they have all come back negative. I went to see my Dr and he confirmed that i am pregnant. My question is I guess has this happened to anyone else?

CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!

The hCG is the hormone that helps sustain a woman's pregnancy until the second trimester when the placenta starts functioning fully and takes over. It peaks around the 14th week following your last period, and then decreases gradually. Shortly after delivery, hCG can no longer be found in your blood.

Sometimes hpt's cant pick up your hCG. This could be because the consentration was not strong enough for it to pick up. Check with your DR. he should have been running all kinds of checks and test to make sure you are having a viable pregnancy.

Best of luck!

HCG levels tend to rise drastically in early pregnancy and then decrease again as the pregnancy goes on.
