Photography is one of the arts, but not everyone who takes a photograph should be considered an artist. Defining the difference is next to impossible I think, in part because abilities vary so widely among the world's population. For example, what is artistic for a four year old to make would mostly not be artistic if done by a forty year old. However, there are many splendid artistic photographers out there. I defy annyone to prove that the works of Ansel Adams or Jerry Uelsmann are not artistic.

Photography is an art & photographers are artists. The word "Photograph" means "Light(photo)drawing(graph)".
When photographers take a picture, they have to make it evenly-keeled to capture human interest, the same with painters.
Also, photographers study parts and functions of a camera which could take weeks or even months.
Some of which includes:
1)Lens- the most Important part of a camera, it captures the light which would be distributed to the film plane.
2)Shutter- Controls the legth of time light strikes the camera
They also study their positions while taking photograhs like:
1)Standing
2) Kneeling
and the "view" of their photographs:
1) Worm's eye view
2) Panoramic View

We all know studying the Arts is really hard. Studying Photography is really hard and that's how it is considered as an art.
