I am going to see Wicked next month at the Pantages in L.A. What would be the appropriate attire for a musical? I've never been to one.

I was brought to the theater from a young age, dress proper. Nobody makes things special anymore. We dressed up for theater and church. It's not black tie, but dress! If it costs you money to get in, dress for it!!! Don't wear jeans, don't insult the players, dress accordingly. Show some respect for tradition.

Go for comfort and some style. Consider factors like weather in your decision. You want something neutral that doesn't take up to much space. What I mean is that a huge fur coat would be cumbersome to deal with. But a sweater might be fine. Furthermore, who are you going with, girlfriends, guy friends, family...That has a lot to do with what you wear. Try a simple dress or jeans and a t-shirt.

You should wear a cute skirt and a long sleeved top. Remember that this is the west coast and everything out here is very relaxed compared to the east coast. If it were me, I'd probable go kinda preppy......its safe to say that a classic short black skirt, collared pinstriped shirt, maybe some tights and some heels would look cute. good luck, have fun!

This may be 2007 and LA may be a laid-back town, but you want to dress up some!
Random jeans and a T-shirt are probably not OK. (MAYBE, if they are dark premium jeans and a fancy T-shirt.)
I suggest a black skirt or slacks with a cute dressy top.
Have fun!

placed on in spite of you prefer, no-one will care in case you ensue in denims and a t-blouse. Musicals are no longer extremely seen as "severe" theatre in the united kingdom, they are meant to be a exciting evening out and not severe artwork...and easily no-one clothing up in a dinner-jacket just to observe Les Miz!

i've always stuck to jeans and a blouse and no one ever said anything bad, some people get dressed up, and others stay casual, the actors don't care, so its whatever makes you comfortable
