According to Youtube:

An empty fridge takes more energy to cool than a full one. In the same way a large cube of ice takes longer to melt in a glass than many small ones. The brick will "hold" the cold /refrigerator will not consume as much elect. If you have an empty freezer, fill with containers of water to freeze. Leave them in until you need the space.
