I have had a lot of trials in my life - I wasn't able to have children after 10 years of trying and 2 tries at ivf then an early hysterectomy / had a house repossessed / been mugged / been raped / first husband had 3 strokes and died of a brain haemmorage ? and various other 'bad' experiences' Now my second husband is an alcohlic and had a mini stroke last night Is this all to prepare me for a job in the afterlife?

Oh dear. You certainly sound like you've had more than your share of trials. You can be sure that in the afterlife at least you will achieve some peace (happy those who mourn for one day you shall laugh...) That's a good way of looking at it (building a curriculum vitae for the afterlife.)

Tragedies happen in life which are terrible & unfair. Sometimes it seems that good people suffer the most. Life is a test, it's harder for some than others. We face many challenges & how we tackle them helps to determine who we are. Do the best you can. Love yourself. Remain hopeful. You will survive. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger so you must be very strong by now.

One day you will be comforted. One day you will be rewarded. This life is temporary. The afterlife is forever. Better to be happy in the afterlife than here. But still, try to make the most of this life. Do the best you can. Find whatever bit of happiness & beauty you can in this cruel world.

Good luck.
God bless.

I wouldn't say any of what you've ben through is preparing you for a job in the afterlife but you must be a very strong person to have coped with all that so maybe it has been preparing you for a job in this life. Perhaps a job in Social Work or Caring. I'm sure you have many of the qualities to do either extremely well. Make it all work for you. Best wishes.

The first 40 years of my life were filled with similar trials and painful life experiences that left me unable to leave my house. I was filled with despair and suffering. Then I realised that I had to take some responsibility for my life circumstances, poor choices, avoidance of issues etc. Rather than preparing me for the afterlife I realised that I was reaping what I had already sown. I changed what wasn't working for me and began to do what was right for me. Changed diet, giving up bad habits, choosing to become someone I could respect rather that someone who blamed the world for her difficult circumstances. I took on board the "Pollyanna" principle that everything painful was happening for a reason that was ultimately for my good not to cause me pain. I realised that my reactions were a choice. My choice. If I didn't like how I felt about my life, then I needed to change what I could physically and then address my mental state and change what I thought about my life. Now 14 years later my life is joyous, fulfilled, amazingly gratifying, filled with love and contentment, peace and bliss. I keep it that way. No longer am I buffeted around by the events of my life. I find something to be grateful for in every little thing. You can too.

Sounds like you've had a rough time of it, but maybe something will happen to you in this life to restore the balance. I've been through some bad times myself but find that if you try to make a difference and be good to people you get it back in spades.

I can't wait for an afterlife that doesn't exist

And I guess that in spite of all of that you have had more moments of happiness in your life than sadness.
Certainly one philosophy is that whatever does not kill you makes you stronger and by the sound of it you should be quite strong already.
I don't think that any fate or supreme being is preparing you for anything but I do think that surviving what you have survived prepares you for whatever else may come.

When someone has experienced the pain, suffering and darkness that you describe then that person is grateful for the smallest photon of light to pierce the darkness and provide the light needed to light the path of your return. Please turn your back on the darkness and embrace this light. You will find that it leads to love, joy and happiness that previously seemed impossible.

assalam o alikum
this life is the test for hereafter, let me give u some quranic verses to explain this...............

chapter 67, verse 2: the translation is "Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,

chapter 21 verse 35: the translation is "Every soul must taste of death and We try you by evil and good by way of probation; and to Us you shall be brought back.

chapter 23 verse 115: the translation is "What! did you then think that We had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to Us? "

i hope this will help to understand the objective of this worldly life.....
may Allah (God) guide us towards the right path, ameen
