Thats the reason if you think about it that Stern might change the venue of the All Star game to overseas. He is sick of thug posses turning the city of the all star game into a war zone. I mean look at pac man jones, what the hell is his deal? Loaning cars to drug dealers. Joey Porter slapping people at casinos. What is the deal?

Have you ever seen Entourage on HBO? Vince the young movie star is making it big in Hollywood and bringing his childhood buddies along for the ride. The same dynamic is at work here but with a difference: many pro ball players come from poverty stricken, high crime areas. This is the crucible in which they forged some of their lifelong friendships. Their friends didn't have the out of this world physical gifts necessary to help them escape those circumstances through sports and some of them succumbed to the temptation of crime. That is how a high profile athlete with so much to lose can come to have criminials and thugs in their "posse". Think of how difficult it would be for you to cut ties with your best friends, particularly if they helped you through some really tough times.

THIS IS NOT A DEFENSE OF PAC MAN JONES' BEHAVIOR AT THE VEGAS STRIP CLUB LAST MONTH. If what I've heard is true his actions were deplorable and disgusting and I hope he never plays another down of football. (Fool's hope I know). But, your question seems to point to athletes in general and why some continue to hang out with a bad crowd. I hope I've answered that question.

Most of the athletes are from poverty and their not going to drop the friends they had just because their living the good life now. Plus those friends will be loyal and have their backs no matter what. When you get around other people with money because you have money now that makes you fake and those people don't really except you anyway because you didn't come from money they just feel like you got lucky because you can play ball, other than that you would still be in the hood you are from. So they want real friends and it just so happens that most of them or thugs but they will not turn there back on the athlete wether he had money or not and the athletes no that, so they bring them along because true friends money can't buy.

Lebron!! i'm from Cleveland and that i've got seen him around. He looks very all the way down to earth and an exceedingly likable guy. I now stay close to Akron, no longer some distance from the King's place of origin! i might prefer to hold out with any of the Cavs, all of them appear like quiet all the way down to earth men. good question! pass CAVS!!!!!
