The core cooling down ?
1/ It will become solid, so no more convection movements so no more magnetic field (see the moon for example).
2/ It means also the mantle will cool down, so less volcanism. If less volcanism, the whole cycles of the earth are changing.
3/ If no magnetic field, we will be at the mercy of cosmic rays and solar winds and all dirty particles. So consider the life pretty tough on the surface. Better be buried deep.
These are the immediate effects I am seeing. Dont worry, it cannot happen in one day nor 1000 years nor 1 million years. Sleep quiet.

Yes, theoretically, one day it would be as by shedding the energy continuously, the sun is loosing its power day by day (the diameter of the sun is reducing by about 8 miles per year). The sun would turn to be a white dwarf and may explode out to shade more energy.
If it happens so, the earth along with other planets of this solar system, would collapse to the sun. Some remote planets like the Uranus and the Pluto may split out in the space for some unknown destination.
However, I don't think that any life would be on the earth up to that time to observe that spectacular cosmic events. So, don't worry; live happily. Be sure that it would not happen in next millions of years.
