Washing your jeans inside out will help reduce fading. It's also a smart move to wash your jeans this way in case something sharp in the washing machine nicks or scrapes the jeans - if this happens, the flaw will be on the inside of the jeans and not visible when you wear them. I also wash my sweatshirts this same way.

Because it preserves the color better and keeps them from getting old looking longer. Wash them in cold water.
Jeans should never be put in the dryer either, and if you want to keep them looking new forever you should only have them professionally dry cleaned. I do that with my nicer jeans and I machine wash the rest at home.
However if you don't mind your jeans getting that scuffed up worn look like the jeans you see at Abercrombie and Fitch then there is no need to follow the inside out wash instructions.
You should only wash them in cold water though, because it helps keeps them from shrinking.

This is because Jeans tend to fade and when fading they make crease lines which are faded so this is why they say to wash inside out, your jeans will last longer this way because their is less stress on the fabric up against the agitator

To keep the colors from fading and having the jeans look worn out/old before their time. Of course they have laundry products w/color guard in the labelling on the market these days that can prevent that too.

Hmm I've never washed any of my jeans insideout, but it's probably recommended to help reduce fading in the color of your jeans.

I'm guessing that this is because your jeans have special embroidery or decorations of some sort that may become damaged by your washing machine's agitator. If not, I have no idea. :)

You don't have to, they tell you to so the jeans will not fade as fast.
Hope this helps.
