It was either her or Mary. Mary was her older sister and yes she did rule but she killed many people and was eventually executed and her younger half sister, Elizabeth, took over. It was better Elizabeth than some stranger from a different country. Her father, who had had countless wifes, had only one son who died young. King Henry, who was her father, killed countless wifes as they wouldn't produce sons.

Mary is also considered 'Bloody Mary' because of all that she killed. She also seemed to only like her younger sister.

If you are talking about the current Queen Elizabeth, it was because she was the oldest daughter of a King and he had no sons to take his place. People believed in her by her words, actions and deeds.

um... it was because she was first in line to the throne, and she was protestant, the english didn't want a catholic on the throne. She was popular but not many 'believed' in her until he famous speech before the spanish armada. Queen mary was NOT executed, King Charles I was the first and ONLY king to be executed and she didn't like her younger sister, in fact she kept he in the tower of london for a while. and King henry VIII only had 6 wifes ( thats still heaps but..) he only executed 2, not ALL of them as britney says. his only son Edward VI, died at the age of 15 of TB and Queen Mary sucseeded (after she killed Lady Jane Grey).

queen elizabeth did not like being a woman, she regreted being born as a woman because of the feeling of inferiority to men. she kept her status by always acting as a a man.

if you go to wikipedia you can find everything you want to know about her... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_I_of_England
