Yes sir. I was in the army for 8 years. I have been to countries in Europe, Africa, the middle east and Asia. On personal trips I have been to Europe, Mexico, Canada.
I will PROMISE you. SWEAR to you. You have it easy livin' here. No where else is like here. Rights? You got them here. Protections? You have them here.
There is no place better. I am thankful EVERY day that I am able to be in the US to raise my children. Here, in the US, no warlord is ever going to come along, give them a rifle and have them shooting a AK-47 at a tank. I will never be so broke that I have to send my daughter to a factory to work at age 7. I do not have to worry about where is my next meal coming from...even if I am dead broke. Our homeless here eat better than whole entire counrties.
If you have not seen it, I can't fully explain it to you. Yes, we have our issues, but nothing like other places.
Do I like it? NO. I LOVE IT. I fought for it. I would die for it - and some of my friends did.

Most people like living in the country where they were born and grew up, where they know the language, customs, laws, culture, have friends, etc. The ones who don't, eventually migrate. So, Americans who do not like living in America have already migrated. 4000000 or so are now living overseas. Foreigners who like living in the US, also come to the US eventually.
If you ask a Mexican if he likes living in his country, most would say- yes. The ones who don't, migrate. Many also would like to live in Mexico, but they have no money and no job prospects so they go to the US to earn better salaries. It does not mean that, had they had money, they would still migrate to the US; most rich Mexicans do not.
So, most Americans would say, yes, and most non-Americans living in the US for a long time and enjoying it, would also say, yes. The ones that do not , go back home or go to a third country.
Everybody thinks that his country, family, mother and religion are the best. The ones who don't think so- a minority, would attempt to move out, convert to another religion and emigrate.
You can pinpoint to the huge number of immigrants coming to the US, but still, compared to the number of people who stay in their own country, these are a minority.
Now, to answer personally if I like living in teh US, I would say that I like many things but many things I do not like.
What I like:
Great infrastructure and great services. All products are available. Mostly, the country is clean. People are reliable in business, punctual and have great work ethics. There is common sense in everything. Customers are treated well. Many creative opportunities and flexibilities in business and education. You have great choices and many means to advance your practical goals no matter what they are. Credit is easy to get. There are gov't loans and grants and all. People who are born in teh US are automaticall Americans whereas in many other countries ( actually majority) being born there means nothing as far as you becoming one of them.
What I don't like:
Too overregulated. There are thousands of laws and by laws and rules stifling your life. You need a permit for this and that and the other. It is no longer as free as it used to be, and is now very much like Singapore. There is no national medical care because mistakenly people think that if there is, the country would become socialist. However, most very capitalist countries have it and they do not pay much more in tax. You can get sued for looking at someone the wrong way. It is very easy to break the law ( there are so many of them) and end up paying very dearly. There is homosexual rape in prisons ( in places like Japan, Germany, and the UK it is not very common) and very little is being done to stop it. People are not friendly to strangers and it is very hard to make real friends. The divorce rate and divorce laws make it very dangerous to get married. Starting one's own business is very expensive and if you work for someone else, getting fired is very easy, and few laws protect the employee. The country is culturally isolated and people know very little about the world outside of the US and often treat other cultures and languages with scorn. Prejudice and discrimination have been curbed in professional environment but abound in social environment. The country is always involved in some wars and just can't stand still for a while. During those wars groups "related" to the countries America is fighting in experience a lot of hostility from the polulation. I would not want to be a Muslim in the US today, for one.
Also, it is very nativist, and it is not really possible to 'become' a "real" American if you were not born and raised there. People will always ask you where you are from 'originally' ; they will say: " he comes from" ( not: "he 'came' from") or "he is foreign-born, German-born", etc. even if a person has been in the US 30-40 years and is a citizen. I hate that. People are fixated on race/nationality/birthplace, etc. In other places people care much less about such things.
Conclusion- I like living in America when it comes to enjoying certain things, but I prefer to combine it with a few other countries to have a more enjoyble life. So, I live there part of the time and spend a lot of time in other countries.

Let me see. I am a woman and atheist. In most other countries, I would be impoverished or subordinate to a man or imprisoned for my lack of religious views. But here I can believe and do mostly whatever I want.
Yes, of course I'm happy. America rocks! It has its kinks, but it's still one of the best countries in the world, if you ask me!

I'm happy. Not always by what's going on. Or the politics that we have too. I don't know if any country has as many freedoms; we have. There was a choice by many Americans died for. So we need to appreciate the things we take for granted. Freedom has been paid for by our people. We need to learn to support our troops. And tell them thanks when we can.

I guess. But I've never been in another country for more than three weeks, so I don't really have a sense of the alternative.

I luv the USA. Its beautiful and has many wonderful things such as freedom of religion, education, career opportunities galore, etc, etc, etc. True we have many problems as well, but with the help of God Almighty we shall prevail.
