In my opinion the best receiver ever has to be Jerry Rice -Hands down. Quarterbacks is a toss up between Tom Brady and Joe Montana. Both came through in the big game and never lost a super bowl. I believe if Tom Brady wins one more super bowl you cannot argue that he is the greatest ever.

It's Montana and Rice. They were the dominant force for a decade. The only pair that could come close would either be Aikman and Irvin or Manning and Harrison. But without a doubt, Montana and Rice. Brett Favre would be on the list of combos but he has et to really find that one great receiver. He had Sharpe for a while and then Freeman comes next but nothing major.

If you're talking about QB and WR combo, it's a tough choice between Steve Young or Joe Montana/Jerry Rice and Peyton Manning/Marvin Harrison.
But considering that Manning/Harrison have broken several QB and WR combo records (as well as individual WR/QB records), I'm giving it to them. Here's a few that they currently hold:
-Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning hold the record for most receptions between a QB and a WR with 723 receptions. The record was broke in 2004.
-Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning currently hold the NFL record in receiving touchdowns between a QB and WR with 106 as of December 31, 2006. They broke the record in 2005.
-Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison became the first NFL quarterback-wide receiver combination to gain more than ten thousand yards. This occured in 2006.
Add a Super Bowl to that, as well as the fact they have a few more good years between them and they're as good as it gets. One can argue Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, but any way you cut it the Colts combo simply beats them in numbers.

Jerry Rice..simply unquestionable due to his numbers and longevity. QB is more in doubt, but if u look at numbers and winning these are my picks: 1. John Elway
2. Brett Favre
3. Joe Montana

QB - Marino had the most yards and TD's. Elway had the most wins when he retired. Unitas was way ahead of his time. Favre will break Marino's records. Manning will break Marino/Favre's records. Steve Young had the best 5 year run of any QB stats-wise. Aikman had one of the highest winning %. Bradshaw won 4 SB. Bart Starr won the most SB and NFL titles combined. But, Montana had the best all around (stats and 4 SB wins).
WR - Rice. Nobody else is close.

There are lots of different opinions and arguments to back any one of a number of QBs. In my mind, the best is John Elway. As far as reciever, there is only one answer :Jerry Rice.
