Hi, I informed the daycare facility that my son was going on vacation. For each week that he does not attend, we are obliged to pay 1/2 week fee. That's ok, not really , but it's protocol, I guess.
My son's vacation is from a Wednesday to a Tuesday. 2 weeks, or thereabouts. I asked, if upon our return, do I need to keep him out on the Tuesday
and resume on the Wednesday or Thursday. Basically, I asked, when would his 2 weeks expire, that I could bring him in , without having to pay for half a full week.
I was told, "our computers can;t figure that out, our week goes from Monday to Monday. We don't do mid-week.' So if my son is on 2 weeks vacation, but the vacation starts mid-week, we are then obliged to pay the full whack.
2 weeks is 2 weeks, no matter what day of the week it starts. Should I need to pay a full week at the beginning, even though he will be there only 2 days, and a full week at the the other end, even though he will be there only

two days. the excuse I got this evening, about the computers , really riled me. The computers aren't set up for vacation that is not mondat thru friday, so therefore, yes you probably will need to pay for a full week at the start of vacation and a full week when you get back. WRONG -there is sonething wrong with this. Anyone with similiar experience?

No you shouldn't. This is obviousally an attempt at making more money off of you.

What I would do:
- Contact other day cares in your area. Ask one to calculate for you. Or two or three. Bring that paperwork into your day care. That'll show them.
- You can also contact your day care licensing board or any other higher up facility to ask about such protocal.
- Review your contract. If it doesn't state this policy in the contract (from Mon. to Mon.) they can be flexible with you. If it does state it in your contract then there is no reason to push the subject.

It is too bad that they have not been willing to be flexible with you. However, to the other posters, it is not "crap" to be expected to pay for the space your child is allocated at the school - even when you are not there. Think of it this way - they are holding that space for you. How would you feel if you went on vacation only to come back and be told - "sorry, we put another child in that space we can't take you in anymore." It can be very hard on a family to have to find a new daycare they are happy with. The price of having the space kept for you while you are away is what you are paying for. I think it is pretty nice they reduce it to 1/2 tuition. We used to have to pay the whole amount!

The coverage they gave you sounds very imprecise....what's "except notice in boost a pair of months"??? in the event that they're preserving your childs spot on the daycare for 5 weeks then sure they're entitled to be paid on the grounds that they're dropping income with the help of your baby being away for that lengthy without different baby to fill the emptiness. refer to the daycare and spot in case you pays say one hundred% for 2 weeks (nicely-known trip time) and 50% for the relax 3 weeks. Sounds to me like this daycare coverage must be made lots clearer.

Daycare providers who ask for money when the children aren't there really bug me! I have never paid a babysitter anything when my kids weren't there! I was the one taking care of them when they weren't attending...............it's just crap!
