the connection is probably faulty...

check all connection points and if it is still dodgy, try another mouse...if that one seems to be fine, you have a problem with your mouse and the best thing would be to replace it.

it the problem is still there...a visit to the service centre is in order.

Reinstall your mouse and reload your optical mouse drivers with the CD that came with it.. Also do not use anything under your mouse that is red or has red in it, as the red light in the mouse may not see a movement when it is on red. A slightly textured mouse pad without graphics with an almost black surface maybe would be best. Last time that happened to me I cleaned the bottom of the mouse and put a blast of air in the hole in the bottom and it straightened out. Clean off the flat bottom of the mouse, then put a strong blast of air in the hole at the bottom of the mouse.

See if your drivers/firmware needs updating.

Use a bettery tester to make sure your batteries are good.

There's a possiblity the mouse is faulty. Another possibility, the mouse is a optical 1 which was on a reflective surface which can cause the mouse cursor to slide over the monitor.

This mainly happens with optical mice. I think you have placed your mouse on a shiny surface making the mouse 'think' that its being moved. Place the mouse on a black, non-shiny surface so that this doesn't happen. Also, you can try laser mice for perfection and there is very less chances of this happening.

Hope this helps.

If you have a cordless mouse and a patterned mouse mat, that could be the reason.,,they are not compatible. If this is the case, try using a plain coloured mouse mat.

you want to set a timeout for the turn Off exhibit screen putting in administration Panel -> potential thoughts on he potential Schemes tab. you may want to save any such schema below a clean call. or basically use different predefined ones -- i'd guess you've "maximum performance" one chosen. If that wont do it you may wish a motive force replace for the exhibit screen.
