Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle. You might want to wear gloves, especially if you hands are dry or cracked. You might have to let it sit awhile depending on how bad the build up is.

There are some chemicals that are used in hot tubs that prevents hard water build up, get them from a local tub dealer (or spas or whatever you want to call them). It's safer to use than CLR and actually works better and faster. I don't know the name of it, I go to my local Soft Tubs dealer to get it (the clerks all know who I am, so I don't even have to ask for it anymore). It's safe enough to use on porceline, it would work safely on the ceramic tiles.

Get some stuff called CLR from any local harware store or zellers or walmart..it will do the job big time without and scrubbing...great stuff i use it all the time to clean "Calcium and lime and rust " from all the stuff in the bathroom and tyles..

there are commercial solutions available at d-i-y or hardware shops. sometimes i sandpaper them off. hcl acid works except that there's toxic fumes and handling concerns

My wife and I use regular distilled vineger. It works great. Don't waste your money on harsh chemicals.
