It is usually two ultrasounds unless they need to check for other things, the first one you get is usually at the beginning to basically get the size, head circumference, etc... the next one is usually about 6-7 months along, this is when they can (hopefully) determine the sex. But, no not alot, only two. And there really is only one chance to determine the sex of the baby. (during that last ultrasound). Good luck!!

I've had 3 so far. The first two were double checking because they thought there could be something wrong with
the the heartbeat (which is fine) and then I had one to check everything and the sex. I am having another 3D ultrasound I am paying for and that will be around 34 weeks. Usually they do not do very many unless they want to look further into possible problems.

I was told I would only 1 because as long as baby is fine, I guess they don't really do 2 anymore. Well, depends on your doctor and where they live. I got another because I was seeing 2 different people a OB/GYN & a family doctor so I had my family doctor go for a 2nd U/S as I didn't find out the sex the 1st time... but baby was shy the 2nd time too so I had to wait LOL!

I had 2. You don't really get a lot of ultrasounds but they check the babys heartbeat at every visit and feel your belly to see how s/hes growing. They were able to tell my babys sex at 4 months.

ive had 5 kids and only 1 ultrasound per pregnancy at 20wks each time. usually docs wont do more than that unless they think its necessary. u could try the ultrasound training schools in your area. they need ppl to train on. i did i had freind in the class an got other ultrasound for free. hope this helps.

lady26 is right. the average is 2 ultrasounds. that's all i had. they will do more if they feel there is a problem. and towards the end, they are reluctant to do them, because by then the baby is so big that they can't see the details real well, and the bones are dense enough to obstruct the view.

I only had 1 with both of my previous pregnancies. I am currently 12 weeks along and havent had one yet but am not thinking Id have more than one unless they feel there may be a problem.
I really want to know the sex but if it cant be "revealed" on an upcoming u/s then Ill just let it be.

Most insurances cover two one about 12 weeks another at 20 weeks. I however had one at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks 18 weeks, 20 weeks and will have another at 22 weeks all covered by insurance. I plan on paying for the 3D one at 28 weeks I hear thats the best time to do that one and its well worth the money. Congratulations!

I am 35 weeks pregnant and up to this point, I have only had one ultrasound. It was at 18 weeks, and it was definately a boy. Not sure if I will get any more...if not it doesnt matter. I am happy.

I believe it is 2 ultrasounds unless you are having problems. Then they will do more just to be safe.
