I don't know about vinegar(I think it would evaporate quickly) but, Cream of tarter (found in spice section used for baking) works. The Ants carry it back to their nest and it expands in their stomach killing them and the other ants in the nest. It is not poisonous. I would also look for where the ants are coming in a little drywall putty or cocking compound may seal the hole.

I stay in an assisted living and have a 0.5 Siamese cat who's exceptionally much 3 and have a real concern with ants. i'm consistently determining on up any style of food and save the vacuum interior the nook. I certainly have between the bagless vacuums and vacuum a minimum of two times an afternoon and make beneficial no cat food is on the floor. i do no longer positioned lots food in her dish, and if it keeps to be in there better than an afternoon or 2 I unload it out and put in different incase there are ants in it.

Sounds like termites, but it could be wasps too. Check out this website for non-toxic alternatives. It's a website from the University of California, Davis and it gives ideas on Intergrated Pest Management which is the idea that you don't have to use pesticides, but can use them correctly if everything else fails. The website is at www.ipm.ucdavis.edu.

Why do you people always jump to termites?? Even though this is possible, there is just as good a possibility that these are really as ants also have mating seasons in which they queens and and drones take flight!! In either case your house is infected with wood eating critters and you need to have it professionally treated or they will soon eat the whole house from under you!!

the Africans eat them in Africa and taste like butter.
your washer ,dryer helps alot.they love moist conditions.
vinegar?
seeing as i come from south Africa i thought i might just help u out.
of course insecticides would help.how ever the crueler system which is permanent like 4ever is to take a sealant and block the hole.plaster the friggin hole solid with a substance from a hardware store that they cant chew through.
the only other way and i mean the only is to strip the wall till you get hold of the queen.kill the Highness and Ur prob is solved.
it is best to spray into the hole as the wee beasties tend to chomp their way through most man made housing substances.so,spray then block, then check if other escape routes exist outside etc and block after respraying.NOTE,u have to kill the queen.
simply blocking may mean they will chomp their way through somewhere else.in short they can live in places dank and dark 4 ever.ZAP THE FRIGGIN THINGS then live in peace.

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.

let them come out, have a lit candle nearby so they go to the flame and if they go to the lamps then place a pan of water beneath so they see the light reflection and dive to it.
