why people tend to buy mp3 player more that ipod?

There is absolutely no difference between an iPod and an MP3 player... why? Because an iPod IS an MP3 player. It's just a brand that we call it by. It's like calling tissues Kleenx.

Why do people tend to buy Mp3 players more than an iPod? That's because other Mp3 players offer a lot more than what the iPod can offer, such as built-in microphones, possibly smaller, possibly larger screens, FM tuner, Wi-fi comparabilities, and much much more.

Other than that, I just have friends who just hate apple, so they dont buy an iPod.

There is little difference. People tend to buy mp3s more probably because the majority of people hate apple & ipods. Anyway, my son has an IRiver, daughter has a Zen Creative and I have an Ipod. Mine is easier to use, easier to find songs for and has no porblems. They both have had problems with formatting, downloading, etc. So I think an Ipod is a lot less trouble.

Ipod is a Mp3 player.....is no different.....
IPOD is much more expensive than others but is worth....it could be last long and more function than others ......
some of them may not like the function or key of IPOD....so is depends

Other Mp3 is good too if it is branded but sometime no brand also good enough to use it ......as long as it could play and store the songs for me.....

hope this help
thank you

MP3 player is the catch-all term for portable digital music players, some of which will only play the outdated MP3 format, all (or nearly so) of which will play MP3 format in addition to others, and many of which have moved forward enough to use much better modern formats like AAC and WMA.

iPods are the hands-down most popular brand out there, with 70% of the overall market and 90% of the market for units with regular hard-drives (which usually range from 30GB-80GB these days). A lot of people hate them for no other reason than that they are the most popular, others hate them because they never figured out how to use them properly, others hate them because if you go solely by capacity and ignore all of the added features (like full-color video screens) they seem like they're overpriced, and still others hate them because they feel that the original brand of MP3 players must be superior because it was first to market. On the flip side, some people love them for equally faulty reasons, like because everyone else likes them, or because they feel that anything that's not an iPod must be junk.

What I can tell you is that if you compare any similar players (like 30GB iPods vs. 30GB competitors) they'll pretty much always price the same as anything with similar basic functions (keep in mind that Nanos have full-color screens and both Nanos and Shuffles have built-in rechargable batteries, neither of which most flash-based players will include, and both of which will necessarily drive the price up vs. a stripped-down player of identical capacity). Apple has also put out the current most seemless system linking the largest online music store all the way to your own personal player with one set of software, and the iPod has a very simple control system that is emulated in some fashion or another by most of their competitors. When I bought mine, iPods were also the only players that had a wide selection of compatible accessories, specifically including cases and sleeves, but that has changed somewhat with the onset of other high-end hard-drive based players, though the selection is usually nowhere near as varied.

I understand what you mean and you have it completly backwards.

Ipod currently dominates the Handheld audio market with 80% share holdings. THe "mp3 player" your are probably refering too are things like the Zen or Adjax or Zune which are struggling to compete with Apple because of its brand but also the ease of use.

Well that's an easy one. iPods can be lumped in with mp3 players so of course that's a higher quantity.
