Most of the hawkers operates either with a partner or alone, so they have little overhead to spend. Whereas the restaurants and food courts have an army of staff and the rental is a huge amount so they have to pass it on to the customers. The next time ask some intelligent questions.

In general, rental at Hawker centre is cheaper then Foods courts or Coffee shops, thus foods can be sold as a lower price. Of course, this exclude prime location like Newton Circle. And we certainly can't compare Hawker Centre with Restaurant.

Firstly, it's because the rent's a lot cheaper for hawker centres than in food courts and restaurants. This is partly due to aiconditioning, location, facility upkeep, and infrastructures of the eating places.
However, I still think that hawker centre food beats that in food courts and restaurants anytime!

hawker center food is cheap coz the ingrediants are cheap and are at the low end side. however its super tasty. restaurants only see for prestige now customer satisfaction.... thus they charge more due to better services. like free flow of water and etc.
