I think we just get so caught up in all the stupid things, that we don't need to be happy. All of these things seem to be addicting in one way or another. I wish I could be happy with a more simple life. I don't like being caught up in this bull-sh**.

I am happy with a simple life now. My wife and I are both disabled so I'd say our lives are simple compared to when we both had careers. Of course, we still face many challenges, but they are very different than the things we used to have to deal with. Now our lives consist of trying to get through each day with as little pain as possible, seeing Doctors and taking care of each other. When we had careers, my wife traveled 90% of the time and I worked about 60 hours a week. We had a lot more money then but also more bills. We both really miss our careers and would love to have them back. Unfortunately, when you get injured, you have to learn to live a simpler life. There is a lot to be said for living simple.

Because we are not fish.
A simple life seems easier but easy is really only lazy in human nature.
We have ambition so that we might strive to better ourselves. We have hope to look foreword to. We have conflict to challenge our minds.
We can't be happy with a simple life because such a life can't satisfy our intellectual, spiritual, and philosophical needs. These needs are every bit as important as those for water, food, and safety from the elements.
A complex life does come with horrors and suffering but without that we have nothing to be grateful for, nothing to strive toward, and nothing to hope for.
A simple life is a life without hope.

It's because society is geared towards convincing people that "more" is better, and people feel they have to compete with others. I guess todays society considers that "He who dies with the most toys, wins" I myself love the simple things in life; the beach, my pets, a good movie, a great book, a letter from a friend.

Since the world is globalised, you need to fight against with others.
As the countries are modernised , you have to live in the complicated life....Simple life such as Village in 400BC is quite impossible to happen in USA Europe as well as the developed countries.
Please face to the reality

There are actually people who prefer simple life. Unfortunately I'm not one of them because I always like action.

because people are complicated...
we are the ones who complicate things...
simplicity is never an option to many...
the more, the bigger, the faster, the sleeker, the newest, and the most popular the better... that is for all people. they want the easy road...
if they find out that we need simple things... then they will realize that they have wasted a certain portion of their life to accumulating useless things...
Hope I answered your question... ;-)

Not everyone.
He who is not happy with simple life does not how to count his blessings. Remember the adage that says, ' it is not how much you have, but how much you enjoy that makes you really happy.'
Thank you!
