My goldfish has a beautiful angelic tail it's getting chewed up. All the fish are getting along when I watch them even hours at a time. Every morning my goldfish has a piece of tail missing. His tail is getting shorter. I wonder if it hurts at all. They all look so happy together even when they eat. So I'm not sure If he would get lonely alone in another tank?

it sounds like you have a fancy (fantail) goldfish. their tail causes them to not be able to dart or swim away from more abusive fish. hence they are very slow moving fish. it is recommended to keep them only with other fancy goldfish b/c their tails are easily damaged by fish that nip. i had a similar problem with my beta & minnows. they only nip at night for some reason. don't know why.
i have heard also of a very strong filter or air pump causing damage to the tail but that is very rarely the case. hope this helps :)

You are very lucky that your Texan Cichlid has still kept upto only nipping the fins of your Goldfish.
If you do not seperate the Goldfish from the Texan ASAP, it may get killed. Cichlids are agressive fishes and they may just tear apart and mutilate any other fish, with Goldfish coming up on the top of the list..because they are practically defenceless against a fast moving predatory fish.
Do your GOLDY a favour, put it in a seperate tank as soon as you can..I really mean it. Better lonely than dead !!

Seperate them asap. Worry about lonely after you fix the current will die soon situation. The texas cichlid will kill the golfish in no time at all.

put him in a sperate tank and get another gold fish for company.
