With additions like Shannon Stewart, Embree, and Piazza, the A's will be BETTER than they were last year. Swisher and Bradley will be better than last year. Chavez and Crosby are not going to be hurt like they were last year. With Zito being gone, the A's are better off. Zito is on the decline (you could tell in the past few years) and I'm glad the sorry Giants picked him up. Harden will win the Cy Young this year. Haren, Blanton, and Loaiza are definitely settled into their spots in the rotation. Piazza won't be doing anything but hitting so yes, he'll definitely do a lot better than all of his previous years in my opinion. Shannon Stewart has a career batting average of .299! .299! WOW! Enough said? The A's are definitely in a better position than they were last year and I'm so excited to see how far they'll go this year. The Mariners and Rangers didn't do much this offseason so look for the same outcome to happen. The Angels did get a tad bit better in the offseason but I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned about. With all the additions made on the A's and all the nonaddtions made everywhere else in the AL West, the A's should run away with the division championship. It sucks to see Ron Washington go, but hey, I'm sure Eric Chavez and Mark Ellis have learned all they can from such a great man.

Mike Piazza will be the best offensive player on the A's as he will hit like Frank Thomas did last season. The A's will likely finish third in the division because the Rangers have made some nice upgrades in their pitching staff and the Angels just look like the best team in the AL West.

Despite having plenty of talent they are unlucky enough to be in the same division as a team who (IMO) will win it all - the Los Angeles of Anaheim Angels or whatever the hell their name is now haha.

The Angels have arguably one of the best pitching staffs in baseball - arguably the best relief pitching in baseball - and arguably the best closer in baseball. Their lineup is full of great hitters who do a little bit of everything and is very well balanced led by an MVP candidate Vladimir Guerrero. Last, their defense is arguably atop the AL as well. Thats a dangerous combo and i dont think the A's can compete with that. Now they MAY be in the running for a wild card but with the AL Central and East being so stacked i dont think so.

The A's lost Zito and that is huge, i mean huge. They still have a very good rotation with Blanton, Harden, Haren but Zito was the man there (although Harden couldve been better, and still may be). Their biggest problem is their offense or lack thereof, the talent is there it just isnt flowing together very well. Like last season, they wont get the timely hits and wont put it all together and i thought last season was their year to win it all, but you gotta move on and thats tough without a guy like Zito.

Nick Swisher, Bobby Crosby are great hitters but their best has to be Eric Chavez despite having a bad season last yr.
