I could see all smart Americans stocking up on ammo if gas goes to $6.00 to $8.00 a gallon which would run food prices up to radical prices.

No matter under bush or someone else.
Should have never been there and its bush who started this mess.

no it will not cause a run on guns and ammo.
If you completely removed Iraq oil from the world market it would not raise gas prices by even a dollar permanently. It might jump it by around a dollar for a few weeks then it will settle out.
It would take a lot more then Iraq out of the market for our economy to collapse. Also even if you took out some major oil nations and oil prices got high enough to get 8.00 gas prices they would not get there for more then a few days. The government would probably start tapping the strategic oil reserve to keep the economy going. We would start pumping with all our domestic wells to capacity.
However if the only way to stabilize the country is with the strategic oil reserve like that and it is not just a political move and not a temporary problem there would be a war. This would create a run on personal fire arms since the military would be buying fire arms for the people behind drafted.
I would say our economy collapsing to outsourcing and increases in welfare and medicare while cutting taxes would be way more like.
