I have this friend and he's kind of acting strange lately. It started when the Top 10 of the class are revealed. He didn't made it. Everybody in our class is quite shocked 'cause everyone thinks he should (I, myself expected him to be one).

Now he seemed to hate our class adviser though I really don't know why.

could you please explane it to me.

We're High School Students and this is really a serious matter.

Some of the folks who made it doesnt even know the number of electrons in an oxygen atom!

I really want to why e acts that way.

I feel the same way... I am supposed to be in the top 5 of our class. but having a biased moderator... I was not included. So did my brother... we are supposed to be included in it...
I felt that those kids didn't deserve it and I felt so inept... My suggestion to you is to make him see that life is like that. you just have to do your best... even if the world doesn't think so... you will still turn out to be the victor... because you made something no one else can... being yourself and the best....

One more thing... I got into a prestigious school, while all the other topnotch students who did the test failed!!! ;-) You see it is not about the prestige, but the prestige you have inside that makes you who you are... tell your friend that he needs to do the best he can... and against all odds. He is going to be a better student in that manner...

Psychologically he has suffered a loss. When we lose something or someone we are attached to, such as a friendship, or in this case a high place in the class marks, we often go through a number of feelings before we can be at peace with it. He probably felt shock and numbness first. Now he is feeling angry and part of that comes out as blaming the class adviser. (If the adviser is not actually responsible for the "top 10", then he's blaming the messenger for the bad news.) Many people go through this sequence of feelings after loss.

It hurts. He may really be glad of your friendship now. (And, being a lad, ie both male and teenager, he may feel it and not want to show it - not 'cool'.)

Your friend is just probably in a bad mood because I'm pretty sure he himself expected to make it on that top 10 list. That's life. Of course you will think lower of the people who made of which you think you should have taken their spot. He'll get over it in time, and as a friend; just be there and he'll eventually vent.
