I work for an elderly woman and she lets her son run the complex. I can't get the rent information from him, what apartments are rented, by whom, and how much. He doesn't deposit the rent instead spends on his habit. How can I find out this information? His mother knows but has no tough love. I Need Help! Besides what to do to the son!

What he is doing to his mother is elder abuse, even tho he
isn't physically hurting her, stealing from her qualifies.
Call your local social services and ask them for help in
stopping this creep before he takes everything she has
and wastes it on his habit.

#1. You work for: The Elderly Woman
#2. She(The Elderly Woman you work for) has placed her son in charge of running the apartments.
#3. Ask her what her expectations are and have her explain to you how she expects you to get the needed information.
#4 Love is love, business is business...They both can be "TOUGH"
#5 If you have proof this man is "Stealing" or "Harming" the elderly lady you can make a report to the local law enforcement under Elderly Abuse Statutes

In california we have what are called estoppel certificates. These are forms that you give the tenant and they fill out (attest to) what they pay on a monthly basis for rent. Estoppel certificates are for this purpose.

However, you have a bigger problem with accomplishing this task. How will you do the books if you can't account for the money that is received? How will you fill in that blank? Is the son formally employed by her?

If he is taking the money, he or she is liable for taxes on rental income to say the least.

Personally, I'd do the best I could, get paid upfront and not do business with them anymore...good luck

hi, discuss a plan with your employer, and both present, talk to the son, make a deal. if no cooperation, then you and the employer should get smarter than the son. oooooooooooooooohhhhh .... this could be fun... but wait.... if you and your employer gets its share... and are satisfied,,, then maybe just do a little investigating on your own and fill in the blanks. i would not start a fire you could not put out. good luck.
