A cell replicates its DNA so that it can pass its genetic material into its daughter cells after replication. The purpose of cell division is to produce new cells that are exactly same as the mother cell. Characteristics of each cell and its functions is defined by its genetic material, i.e. DNA (or in some cases RNA). If DNA is not replicated and passed into the daughter cells, the daughter cells will be dysfunctional and useless.
