Yes, they are a threat.

But they're not sleeping - WE ARE.

China could be a threat if they could get past the wicker hats. Reality is that China's economy is driven by hard core industrialists that are trying to keep pace with the coal driven energy sources they use. Eventually US and EU will crack down on Chinese air pollution.

Back to the wicker hats...much of China is very impoverished where they are still very much entrenched in the "old" ways. They aren't all interested in what Americans find most intriguing=consumerism.

It will be awhile before they all come around and realize their power....and as long as they have a communist power they'll never be taken as seriously.

i'm an ABC, for the record

okay, let me think

the chinese never intended to fight the u.s. (well, save the era of the american sphere of influence prior to WWII)

the debate is confusing, partly due to ultranationalist americans and politicians that refuse to admit this fact

but yes, america is being hurt; even the layman noes it, due to our massive trade/fiscal deficits, outsourced jobs, cheap chinese products that fill our shelves; the only solace we have is that china also has alot invested in the u.s., our military might, and our ability to pressure china into fairer trade and currency rates

the chinese isnt our enemies... its ourselves; both the liberals and conservatives, bigots and greedy MNCs.... we need to streamline our health care and social security, fix them unions, and manage our $$$ sensibly

***chinese espionage is rare; being that there arent too many asians on the federal level***

***some ppl love to compare china to japan (yeah, the whole '90s bust), but first of all, china is not japan, its a whole 'nother ballgame, with its own advantanges and disadvantages, and second of all, japan is still a leader in robotics and other high-tech industries; theres even talk of stock market mergers... both are players

for those arrogant americans.... you may think i'm a bloody asian that "should go back to his country if you think its so great", but the more economically wise move would be to evaluate the facts, and then strike back (whether thru defensive policies or thru profitable partnerships)

The USA's problem is its cancer within - Republicans.
GW and his cronies have done more damage to America in the last 6 years than any outside enemy.
They have bankrupted us for generations with debt, expanded the government, centralized power, and widened the gap between rich and poor.
Luckily, they are out of power, and more sensible people can go about repairing the damage.

The reason why US attacked Iraq was to neutralize China's oil supply, in hopes to delay the Chinese economical and weaponry advances by limiting and controlling their resources.

I suppose folks up in Pentagon think so.

Unless the Chinese develop a blue-water navy capable of moving men and machinery across the ocean, I'm not too worried about China. And, considering that would take TRILLIONS of dollars in investments, I'm quite happy with them developing a prosperous economy that keeps them from WANTING to take anything of ours.

No. They're a "growing" reality. Look; they have 4 TIMES our population- & they're JUST ENTERING the World Economy. By the sheer SIZE of the demands of their population, they're going to vaccuum up every natural resource that the World will WANT to sell them (stuff like Oil, Food, weapons- you name it)- until they're the most POWERFULL country in the World. And they can do it ALL- without firing a shot. All they need to DO- is keep getting richer & better educated. And there's NOTHING that ANY country- can do about it.

As an American, i think that the international became cheated by ability of China because of the actuality they broke the guidelines with athletes youthful than the age cut back positioned forth by ability of the IOC. we are all getting screwed by ability of the IOC because of the fact it form of feels they'd have been "strongarmed" by ability of the politburo, secret police or the "chairman" himself earlier the video games into believing that China's athletes are of age and that the judges would desire to prefer China, otherwise face sanctions, attainable "reprogramming", discipline, or expulsion from the video games. every physique it incredibly is unaware of those data and don't comprehend how communist governments perform would desire to commence discovering approximately them and how they make the main of shady practices to get what they like. The gruesome, prepubescent, yellow snaggletooth chinese language "women" gymnastic team don't comprehend what's up because of the fact the government lied to them on the subject of the age cut back, yet have been required to have those crusty, cheesy smiles as prescribed by ability of the communists. in the event that they did no longer smile as ordered or tried to act greater mature than their age of 10-13, then their puppy dogs may be abducted and eaten in Bejing's maximum widespread eating places..... "No Gold Medal, not greater Fido....." additionally, to those who did no longer watch the video games or comprehend something approximately scoring in gymnastics, the chinese language have uninteresting and uninteresting exercises and apparatuses that are only no longer thrilling. Japan, u . s . a ., Germany and Russia are danger takers and would desire to are transforming into to be greater rankings because of the fact they finished the mandatory aspects, yet extra greater danger strikes too. China additionally made greater errors, missteps for the time of landings and had flexed hands or legs while they'd desire to have been straighter. the international's international places made much less errors yet have been docked factors for them on a similar time as China saved their rankings intact, with errors..... every physique that watched it, yet denies China won favors from the judges are blind and can't see of course.....

Bush and Cheney have ruined America. It will take decades for the United States to recover from their malpractice.

China is wise. They don't invade other countries and plunder their oil.
