So I am not brilliant at math, although I am not mathematically challenged either. I want to go pre-med or pre-pharmacy. I could get a B in precalculus and probably caculus with some effort. But I want A's. So now I am studying precalculus, not enrolled in the class, and then in the summer I will sit in a calculus class (not enrolled) and then when I transfer to UCLA (my hope) I will get two easy A's. The next summer I would sit and not enroll in another hard class....It is not cheating, and a good way to succeed. You thoughts?

It sounds like a great idea. time consuming but great. It would be even better if you could get the same instructor. Personally I didn't know you could do that. If that was the case, you could sit in on a class and CLEP test out and you wouldn't have to take it again. Good luck either way!

The teacher may not let you sit in on all the classes, but you could ask. Maybe you can find some classes on TV and watch them. Or sit in on a study group of math kids, tell them you will bring refreshments if they let you listen to them and not ask too many questions. Maybe you could make all the charts for them...if they draw them out on paper you put them on powerpoint and make them pretty. You could learn a lot that way.

Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to sit in a class in which you are not enrolled (as long as no one else has to stand). It's not cheating at all to study a subject before taking a class, and that's all you're doing by sitting in.

Auditing classes is a really good idea. I often thought of doing that myself. I wish you the best of luck. I want to go to med school or either do pharmacy myself! It's the way to go!! Good luck and may God bless you!!

it also doubles the time needed to complete your math requirements.

My suggestion is to enroll and study hard to get that 'A'. Stop screwing around

I think it's a great idea, but it is time consuming. Try it out and let us know how it works out.

I would just get a tutor and become better with more studying.

Some colleges won't allow you to sit in a class like that...good luck.

You think you're the first person to come up with a system like that? Retake college courses that you've already audited or taken in high school for easy credit?

Not quite.
