If it was illegal to do so, iTunes wouldn't let you do it, particularly not with DRM-protected songs that you've purchased from the iTunes store. But it does let you, so it is legal. Distributing the burned CDs would be illegal, however, but as long as it's just for personal use it's fine.
However, if you have an iPod, you can always just get a line-in cord and pump the sound through your computer that way (you'll also want some sort of power adapter to go with it, though). These days there's not much point in actually burning CDs for your own personal use if you do have an iPod, since it's possible to hook them up to just about anything. I even have a cable that will let me play video podcasts, home movies, and photo slideshows on a regular TV set.

sure that's plausible to burn a Cd with iTunes songs. earlier you do some thing ensure you've iTunes downloaded. All you should do is get easily a kind of empty Cd's, they're oftentimes white with no longer some thing for a cover. Open the compact DISC portion of your computer and positioned the empty CD interior. ensure you've your playlist open. (this can nicely be made by ability of clicking "record" on the your accurate left nook of itunes. Scroll down that's going to say "create new playlist". There you call your playlist and drag your songs into it.) on the bottom correct nook of you playlist there should be a button that announces "burn". earlier you brun some thing, make certain your empty Cd has adequate space for all of your songs. the most i have seen a CD carry is 23 songs. mkae particular to study the kit inspite of the actuality that. when you clisk "burn" the Cd will start up burning the songs for you. this can take a at the same time as relying on what number songs you've on your playlist. desire I helped! once you've any questions basically bypass for your itunes training guide. to attempt this bypass to to the "help" button in that similar row the position "record" is. click and scroll all the way down to itunes help (first one once you click "help").

The .m4a songs that are purchased from iTunes are set up so that they CAN be burned to audio cd, but only through the iTunes burning component. (By creating a playlist with desired songs, inserting blank cd, and hitting 'burn disc' at the bottom of the window) A playlist can only be burned up to 7 times.
Other alternatives:
1. Authorizing your work computer to play purchased songs from your account. You can authorize up to 5 computers. That means you can just type in your password and get your purchased songs onto a different computer.
2. (not REALLY an alternative, more like a loophole) After purchased songs have been burned to audio cd, they are no longer in the .m4a format. That means you can redistribute the new version of the song as many times as you like, as its no longer protected.

The issue here is whether you have the copy rights to record and play for your own needs. Present copy right terms DO allow you to do that. As long as you have purchased the right to listen to a song, there are no restrictions to where you can listen to it (according to copy right laws, your employer may not allow it).
The only issue that arises is if you burn a song for anyone's use but your own.
Hope that helped...

It is perfectly legal as long as you use iTunes or another servie where you pay by song or, by album. If you were to use another service like LimeWire or Morpheus, it would be illegal because these services that so charge, aren't paying royalties to the copyright holders which in most cases, is the artist of the song.
