the no-fail is to use a piece of snickers bar, crushed into the trigger of the trap. mice can NOT leave the stuff alone, and the caramel sitcks to the trap like even pnut butter can't. The only mice that won't get hit are the few too small to get caught in the trap...in which case, use the same snickers, but in the center of a glue trap...guaranteed!

Use the trap again. Replenish the bait if necessary - use only a small quantity of peanut butter or cheese. The peanut butter can even be applied with a toothpick.
Use more than one trap. This creates more chance of success.
Continue to set the traps even after catching a mouse. Mice travel with companions.
Continue to set the traps for several days more to be sure.
The gestation period for mice is only 19 days. Allowing one mouse to linger could require more effort later.
As far as using poison eating traps, realize that the mice will probably only get as far as back inside the walls- yikes!

Put a dab of peanut butter on it with a piece of dog food, cracker, or toast placed on top of that. Peanut butter will hold it in place while the mouse tries to eat the goods. Peanut butter and cheese hardly ever work on their own. Or go buy some D-con mouse killing tablets. Places that carry the product - true value hardware, bi-mart, wal-mart, fred meyers, your local grocery store/super market - ask the clerk where to find down an aisle. Follow the directions and place them on the floor out of reach of your other animals if any. The mouse or mice will eat it out of the small box container and go off to die. Or borrow a hungry snake.

Use steamed white rice! Mice love rice! Steamed white rice will stick to the trigger like glue once the rice has dried out. Just steam a bit of white rice, then place a small amount on the trigger. Put on on a few classical tunes near the trap also. Ive noticed mice love the sound of guitars or harps, but im not gonna get into how I know that. Just try it out you will see.

Good Luck!

when I moved into my new house it was infested with rats, all I did was cooked a little rice and mixed it with RATEX pellets. Now there is not one rat in sight.
