I suggest you do what I'm doing now.

I'm currently studying at Zhong-Guo Wen-Hua Da-Xue (Chinese Culture University) usually shortened to (Wen Hua University) - Taipei.

It's very cheap! 16,000NT (about $160-170) per 3 month term, you do 2 hours every weekday and you get a fair bit of homework as well. As with all schools teachers vary, here they seem to be slightly better than some places I've been and the most important thing is that my Chinese had drastically improved over the 3 terms I've been here - I started on Beginner 3 and am now at Int 2.

They cover all levels, from total beginner all the way up to advanced!

They have beginner 1-3, int 1-6, advanced 1-4. There are other classes like Newspaper reading and Chinese literature (which I can't wait to try out - just need to improve a bit more first haha)!

Actually in Taiwan, Shi-Da University has always had the best reputation for studying Chinese; however, I and quite a few of the other students at Chinese Culture University have previously studied there and have happily transferred to Wen-Hua, which has better facilities and is a lot cleaner (among other things). Both Universities use the same materials so don't worry about that either.

There are a few other schools which I've tried - TLI (Taipei Language Institute) - this was awful, their text books were dull and full of typos and there teachers were.... part-timers who like to use as much English as possible.

If you study hard and get above 80% in your exams here - quite easy, you'll be given a free student scholarship! Unfortunately I don't qualify as I'm married to a Taiwanese!
