AWW! How exciting! It is not out of style to ask her dad's permission first, if he likes you. I would do it big, however you do it. Its great to have a sweet story for when all your friends and family ask how you asked her. I'm sure there are websites all over the net to assist you further than I can. I would suggest the traditional down on one knee, her favorite flowers and a bottle of wine/champagne. You could take her to the spot you first met to show that you remember and tell her, "it was here that I first knew that my heart was yours" something like that. She'll love that! Oh I'm so excited for ya'll! Let us know what you decide and how it goes! Oh! Idea! Take her to a park on a pretty day. As she is watching the cute kids on the slides, say, "I can't wait til we are watching our own children," and that'll put her in a happy mood then ask her!

All jokes aside. It's not that hard. There are plenty of sites with good lines to use opposed to "Will you marry me?" Don't try to be funny though.

take her to a nice beach during the bright moon or sundown, go for a nice walk and tell her how much you love her etc then propose to her on the beach.
it would be romantic.

There are many creative ways to express it:-
(1) Hire a plane and smoke the words : (your wife to be name) will you marry me (your name).
(2) At the main city area, with big projection screens, put your picture and her picture and word it as "Will you marry me?"
(3) The conventional way, tale a rose, one leg kneeling on the floor, and hold her hand "Will you marry me?".
