I think of how lucky I am to be working in such a beautiful place. I work in Yosemite natl. park as a tram driver/ narrater in the Mariposa grove of giant Sequoias, taking about 50 people at a time on a 7 mile, 75 minute tour of the largest living things on the planet. I meet people from all over the world, and watch their faces light up in awe at the beauty up there. When the kids see a deer or a bear for their first time, it's hard to describe their excitement. The best part is I'm working in a place where close to 4 million people a year go to get away from their jobs. When kids can walk right through a tree that a stagecoach went through over a hundred years ago, it makes my day.

dread.
"here we go again"
I dont want to go in today
I hope the tube/bus/my legs break down so I have a plausable excuse so I dont have to go in to work today
This has got to be the most dull and boaring job in the entire world
Why am I doing this again?
And the job title is?
retail sales assistant.
Job profile? cleaning/dsting the sghop floor daily (called house keeping and no the millionaire company is too tight to pay for cleaners), putting away the mess customers create by leaving clothes in the wrong places, fitting room duties, welcoming customers, looking for shop lifters.....all at the same time.
payment? Minimum wage of £5.35 an hour (may I take the time toi remind you the governments suggested living wage in London- where I live- is £7.50 an hour.)
and why?
I live alone and in London. I have bills to pay. This is why.

Usually I feel pretty good before I go there. But for some reason I get upset as soon as I sit down in my chair. And the funny thing is I really love my job...guess some days I'd rather be sleeping.
