I disagree.
What determines a persons position is first the coach and team requirements.
Second, and especially with novice players, is size and ability.
yes "skill set" and "mentality" are important factors...but have nothing to do with where a novice player will be placed.
I have a great Defensive Tackle.
Took all league and honorable mention 1st Div in college.
He's too small for my team.
great skill set.
great mentality.
I put him at Middle Linebacker.
Thats what I needed.
Thats where I needed him to play.
Thats where he took MVP
He was better suited to the position because of his size and speed.
his "mentality" was: "I 'll play where you need me coach".
And thats what he did.

I think these kids are seeing the coverage that the combine is getting this year and trying to put themselves into a catagory.
Darth is correct too. I played ten years and always played on both sides of the ball. It usually is not until college that players are pegged for one position.
This type of question should probably be in the Fantasy section. IMHO

Because apparently they lack the nerve to go out and actually tryout for a team.....and let a qualified coach put them in the position they need to be in.
I love it when you have 13 year old kids asking too, like we can tell by their height, weight, and 40 time what they should be at (when most kids at 13 still have SEVEN YEARS to grow). It's a bit ridiculous.

I think they just want to know how they stack up against the rest, doesnt matter it {position)will probable change anyway by the college years, Colleges are for ever taking running backs changing them to linebackers, wideouts to d.backs so on and so forth,So you should play or at least go out for the position you want,if you dont get it dont worry, you can only have so many qb's rb's,wr's,and you cannot win without the other possitions,

because they dont have the guts to actually go out there and talk to their coaches.. people just say what they can do but when they actually try it they cant raelly do it.... for a coach to be able to determine ur position he must see all of this together.. i kno wha tu mean dude lots of peeps ask what they should play.. 50 % of them make most of their height and weight and 40 time..
Edit:
dont ask anymore because the coaches pick what position u will play based on what u can do.. so why does it matter? u dont get to pick what position ull play

who's asking them that's what i like to know. no one should just settle for just one position they should try every thing and than a coach can tell you what your able to do. JUST DO IT they should just go and try out for a team
