i thought bush said if you fund or harbor or assist a terrorist that makes you one???

i personally think they should be dissolved as a corparation and then let dole and other investers pick up the pieces.
standard oil was dissolved for owning to much of the market.

They came forward so the penalties should be less servere. $25 mil is a nice chunk of change. Sounds fair to me.

But there defense for funding terrorism is because it was the only way they could give their workers protection. The Colombian authorities are not powerful enough to overpower Narcoterrorists in Columbia as the Narcoterrorists have superior weapons and arms from all the drug money that the Colombian authorities can't get to strenghthen their military. The bannana growing regions of Columbia happen to be located in the most volitile areas of Columbia. So the only way they could keep their workers safe was to "Truce" with terrorists. So in a way it is an ethical dilemma. The punishments are still pending in court. But personaly I think they should have tried finding a safer place to grow bannas instead.

Instead of Banana Pudding, we have been making Terrorist Pudding! I can't believe that paying off scumbags is the right way to operate a banana corporation. It sends out a message that companies will pay money to keep criminals from harassing them. So much of our food comes up the Panama Canal. How much of it is terrorist food? What a sad situation this is becoming!

I've read that Coca Cola supports death squads in South America.

I agree with you, corporations don't have civil rights, if they support groups that are guilty of acts that are illegal in the US they should be punished. I wouldn't lose any sleep if they were dissolved.

I did not think I would ever hear a question like this from a longshoreman. You didn't notice any interruptions in the arrival of their banana boats did you? Didn't miss a pay check because one of their boats didn't show up, i would bet.
