'Cat's in the Cradle' by Harry Chapin.
Being a long term single parent, I did my best to spend as much time off work as possible caring and being with my children and doing things with them. This song is something that makes me really sad ...
And the fact that the little boy says ...I'm gonna be like you, Dad ...
Think about all those deadbeat parents out there ... would you want your little boy to be a deadbeat dad (or a violent abuser, or anything else ... )

It might not be the saddest song I have ever heard but it's pretty close to it.
WITHOUT YOU
By Air Supply
No I can't forget this evening
Or your face as you were leaving
But I guess that's just the way the story goes
You always smile but in your eyes
Your sorrow shows, yes it shows
No I can't forget tomorrow
When I think of all my sorrows
When I had you there then I let you go
And now it's only fair that I should let you know
What you should know
I can't live, if living is without you
I can't give, I can't give anymore
I can't live, if living is without you
I can't give, I can't give anymore...
When come to think of it, pretty much every single song from Air Supply!
This one also makes me cry...
PLEASE FORGIVE ME
By Bryan Adams
Still feels like our first night together
Feels like the first kiss, its gettin' better baby
No one can better this...
Still holdin' on, you're still the one
First time our eyes met, same feelin' I get
Only feels much stronger, wanna love ya longer
You still turn the fire on...
So if you're feelin lonely don't
You're the only one I ever want
I only wanna make it good
So if I love ya a little more than I should
Please forgive me, I know not what I do...
...I can't stop lovin' you
Don't deny me this pain I'm going through...
...if I need ya like I do
Please believe me every word I say is true...
...our best times are together...
...touch, still gettin' closer baby
Can't get close enough...
Still holdin' on, still number one
I remember the smell of your skin...everything
...all your moves...you, yeah!
...the nights ya know I still do...
...one thing I'm sure of is the way we make love
And one thing I depend on is for us to stay strong
With every word and every breath I'm prayin'
That's why I'm sayin'...
...never leave me I dont know what I'd do...
And MY HEART WILL GO ON
By Céline Dion
Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone
Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life well always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
Well stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on...
LET`S TALK ABOUT LOVE
By Céline Dion (all of her love songs are emotionally draining to me!)
Everywhere I go all the places that I've
Been
Every smile is a new horizon on a land
I've never seen
There are people around the world -
Different faces different names
But there's one true emotion that
Reminds me were the same...
Let's talk about love
From the laughter of a child to the tears
Of a grown man
There's a thread that runs right through us
All and helps us understand
As subtle as a breeze - that fans a flicker
To a flame
From the very first sweet melody to the
Very last refrain...
Let's talk about love
Let's talk about us
Let's talk about life
Let's talk about trust
Let's talk about love
It's the king of all who live and the
Queen of good hearts
It's the ace you may keep up your
Sleeve - till the name is all but lost
As deep as any sea - with the rage of
Any storm
But as gentle as a falling leave on any
Autumn morn...
Let's talk about love - it's all we're
Needin'
Let's talk about us - it's the air we're
Breathin'
Let's talk about life - I wanna know you
Let's talk about trust - and I wanna show
You
Let's talk about love...
Boy that was a lot of typing!
I got blisters on my fingers!
Sure hope this satisfies your insatiable curiosity!
Was it worth it?
Take it easy buddy!

"It Must Have Been the Roses"
Words and music by Robert Hunter
Annie layed her head down in the roses
She had ribbons, ribbons, ribbons
in her long brown hair
I don't know, it must have been the roses
All I know is I could not leave her there
I don't know, it must have been the roses
The roses or the ribbons in her long brown hair
I don't know maybe it was the roses
All I know was I could not leave her there
Ten years the waves rolled the
ships home from the sea
Thinking well how it may blow
in all good company
if I tell another what
your own lips told to me
may I lay neath the roses
and my eyes no longer see
I don't know, it must have been the roses
The roses or the ribbons in her long brown hair
I don't know maybe it was the roses
All I know was I could not leave her there
One pane of glass in the window
No one is complaining though,
come in and shut the door
Faded is the crimson from the
ribbons that she wore
and it's strange how no one
comes round anymore
I don't know, it must have been the roses
The roses or the ribbons in her long brown hair
I don't know maybe it was the roses
All I know was I could not leave her there
Annie layed her head down in the roses
She had ribbons, ribbons, ribbons
in her long brown hair
I don't know, it must have been the roses
All I know was I could not leave her there
I don't know, it must have been the roses
The roses or the ribbons in her long brown hair
I don't know maybe it was the roses
All I know was I could not leave her there
