Masturbation is an activity that involves the sexual release of pent up feelings. For some, it may become an addiction with the constant need for the release. For others, it may become routine because the male body in particular has a need to relieve its self ("blue balls"). The average individual participates in masturbation simply because they have strong urges to do so. Masturbation is a very normal event and occur on a regular basis for almost everyone.
Do not view masturbation as an unholy activity because it is completely normal and everyone does it. The pleasure is only encouragement to maintain a healthy and regular release of urges/feelings.

It's a way for a person to release their sexual tension with an emotional involvement...it's a strickly physcial pleasuring of oneself. As humans we don't know really why...but it feels good and it's a comfort to others. It's starts with young boys at only 3 to 4 years old...to them it comforts them.

Masturbation is pleasuring ones self. This can be a number of ways and is not always limited to sexual things. As fight club states "self-improvement is masturbation" :)
