I feel safe in assuming most US soldiers don't speak Iraq's language.

I don't think it's as bad as you might think. A BIGGER miscommunication, I believe- comes from OUR not understanding the values & cultures of THAT part of the world. We are SO different in our belief systems, that the Arabs & Persians are unable to identify with what we're trying to DO. So they see us as the "infidels"- trying to take over their land- and keep trying to drive us out. Bush didn't understand that when he took us into Iraq- and now we're stuck until we finally throw in the towel...

Very little.

Our patrols typically have a terp with them. Also, our guys know enough Arabic that we can communicate little things. It doesn't take long to be immersed in the language before you start picking it up.

lots of problem. but i think its getting better now since we have Iraqi soldiers in our side, and they can communicate. And I have seen in many instances Iraqi soldiers speaking in English and communicating with US soldiers with the best of their abilities.
