Didn't you ask this same question before about naming your new gray horse? I believe you chose a best answer for this once already as "Peppy" Why another duplicate question?

Try to consult a cow horse trainer in your area. A great DVD set to watch is Hereos and Friends with Bob Avila, Tod Bergan, John Slack and Teddy Robinson. The first thing you should concentrate on when riding him, is getting him comfortable with galloping. A lot of young horses get really excited when they are allowed to gallop because they don't do it often. Reiners and cowhorses need to gallop a lot. Just gallop around and work on his steering. Once he is comfortable and consistant with that, start rolling him back into the fence (but not too hard). When you are loping and come around the corner, just guide him towards the fence and draw the outside rein until he stops and turns, then ask him to lope out. Don't do too much of this and don't pull him into the ground too hard until he understands what he should be doing and is physically strong. After you have him pretty broke, take him out and trail cows or just sit on him while others are working cows.
As far as names go, I have always liked Peppy but that's just because it reminds me of Peppy Badger Chex who is one of the best horses I have ever ridden.

I just rescued a 3 year old mare. We are training English Trail but I have helped my friend train her cow horse. We had baby horses in a huge field and she would ride her horse in the field and round them up! :) But you can also use Cows, Sheep, any kind of livestock really. If you horse naturally likes to herd things you may be in luck! I will go to my horses mare heard and she'll sometimes have all the horses rounded up into the middle of the field. It's very funny and I always thought she would make a good cow horse..but I don't know how to ride Western.
Names..Well...
Chase
Herder
Rounder
Shapes
Socks
Studly
Be creative- Well goodluck!

I realized someone said to gallop him alot. Absoultly do not do this, espically if he is only 2 years old. As you probably know, there knees still aren't closed at 2 years old, and this will give him early arthritis and other joint problems. Also, with how in-balanced they are and how wobbley there legs are at 2 years old, it will be very easy for him to fall over on you. You don't want him to get into the habit of running because HE likes it. You can start galloping him AFTER, he has all his cow horse training on him. Is he broke yet? How much have you done on him? Work him around cattle alot. Teaching him not to be afraid of them at all. Swing a rope around his body, so he won't be afraid of it from any angles. Before anything, teach him leg pressure, how to open and close gates, move off and into your leg, how to use his hip and rear, rather than his forehand, how to get low in his butt, and how to keep his head low. I would recomend using some training forks lightly on him, just to remind him to keep his head low when he brings it to high. I wouldn't use a tie down, because then you are restricting him from learning how to use his neck and back at all. Let me know if you have any more questions. But i would start off with those things and just basic bomb proofing WAY before you just gallop him around.
Hope i helped

I would stick with Pep for his name.
Training wise, just get him moving forward. Get him comfortable doing some non-collected cirlces and straight-a-ways. Then you can start collecting and shaping him up. Get him using his hindquarters and really light on your hands. Then you can start introducing cattle. Just follow an old nag around the arena a few times to get him confident. And go from there.

i have a horse to but he is a quater horse his name is J.D. to train your horse I would probably ride him on trails, but if you dont want to do that then walk him. You also should get him used to troting and cantering. Some things i would do, would be to start getting him used to cows. I dont now any good names for him but i would probably name him Doc.

Name him "Peeps" - it's cute on a whole lot of levels like the yellow marshmellow peeps that come out around Easter.. peep show... you could sing, "jeepers, creepers, where'd ya get those peepers, jeepers, creepers, where'd ya get them eyes."
Ha! Have fun with your new horse!
