When they're always the one standing in the way when some minority group tries to get the same rights the majority already has?

It is the left that protects a person's right to be different, to be outside the "moral majority."

It is the left that supports a person's freedom to marry or not marry a person of a different race or same sex.

It is the left that supports a person right to die.

It is the left that supports a person right to watch porn or visit a strip club.

It is the left that supports a person/group's right to dissent. Who supports both the right-wing klans and left-wing communist's right to protest? The ACLU does.

It is the left that supports a women's right to choose.

Liberals support using the government to enforce SOCIAL FREEDOM. Conservatives seek to use the goverment to RESTRICT social freedom them based on their own personal religious morals.

The institutions conservatives support the most are some of the collectivist of all: The church, the nation state, and the military. In all of these, dissension is discouraged. You are expected to follow orders, end of story.

Liberals are collectivist on the economy in that we seek to ensure equality of economic opportunity. On social issues, liberals are extremely individualistic. Conservatives (not liberterians) are the exact opposite.

"There is no minority group (I assume you mean racial minority) that does not have the same rights as the rest of the nation."

This wasn't always the case. It took feminists, northeastern radical abolitionists, and civil rights groups (like the ACLU and NAACP) to give slaves, women, and minorities equal rights in this country. It sure as hell was not conservatives.

You are confusing today's SOUTHERN CONSERVATIVE Republican party of today's with Lincoln's / Teddy Roosevelt's / Nelson Rockefeller's RADICAL / PROGRESSIVE / LIBERAL Republican Party of the northeast.

"No conservatives are against gay people (which I assume was the different at the core of your question),"

THANK GOD FOR IEDS signs by the conservative Westboro Baptist Church. These fundies picket dead soldier's funerals waving signs against America because they believe this country has become too gay friendly.

For the record, they have been doing this at gay people's funerals for a long time before they started doing this to soldiers.

"A person has a right to life, not a right to die. "

If a person wants to end his own life to end suffering caused by never ending pain or disability, what business is it of the state to stop him???

Liberals support giving people FREEDOM OF CHOICE. Conservatives oppose it.

Conservatives only represent their own interests and that isn't a binder to freedom and individual rights. Implementing the Patriot Act in the United States is proof.

I do not know that conservatives claim to be for individuals rights but I will go a head and respond assuming they do.

There is no minority group (I assume you mean racial minority) that does not have the same rights as the rest of the nation. Is there complete equality in the US probably not but there are hundreds of laws that prevent any kind of racial description possible. Every American citizen has the same rights as every other American citizen regardless of race.

Conservatives do not oppose a person's right to be different as long as it does not harm anyone else or infringe on someone elses rights. No conservatives are against gay people (which I assume was the different at the core of your question), they may be against gay marriage in that it could cause harm to the family.

I cannot believe you would even suggest that conservatives are against interracial marriage. Lets not forget that democratic senator Byrd from West Virginia was a member of the KKK.

A person has a right to life, not a right to die.

The right is not opposed to a persons right to watch porn or go to strip clubs, it is just the religious right. Please do not confuse the two. Not all conservatives are fanatical Christians.

Conservatives do not oppose a persons right to dissent.

As far as abortion, conservatives support the unborn child's individual right to life.

Liberals support enforcing their religion of Social freedom on all. They call anyone who disagrees with that a bigot. The Conservatives do not try to restrict someones personal freedoms. I think you are very confused.
