Does it really work to apply pencil liner first before applying liquid liner so that it won't smudge? I wanted to start using liquid because every time I use powder as eyeliner to make a thick line, it smudges! If the pencil liner before liquid liner method doesn't really work, how can I keep my POWDER eyeliner from smudging?

Hey, I've had this same problem. I've found the answer too. Try Maybelline Ultraliner. It's liquid and waterproof. It works and lasts a long, long time. No smudging. It works so well because it seems to have some latex or similar substance in it. After applying it, keep your eyes closed for a minute or two. You will have no smudging and it will last all day without smudging.

I Like Kat Von D's Liquid Eyeliner. Urban Decay's Liquid Eyeliner Is Really Good Too. Yeah, It's Only For The Top Lids. If Your Trying To Keep It Simple Just Use The Eyeliner & Some Mascara. The Color Of The EyeShadow Will Depend On Your Own Personal Style But Also The Color Of The Eyeliner.

use MAC liquid eyeliner with a small brush, is the best liquid eyeliner for making a thicker line that stays or even a thin line. Put some nude eyeshadow/ powder/ foundation on before applying any eyeliner, it will help it stay. im not sure there is much you can do to stop powder liner smudging though.
MAC is def worth trying!!
goodluck :)

I had my eyes tattooed so it won't smudge. But I love eyeliner, i use a powder most the time in all different colors. This is what i do to make it work good. But be careful when using this method.

I take hairspray and spray it onto a plate or bowl. Then I take a very small paintbrush or eye brush (like the smallest you can find) and dip it first into the hairspray and then into the powder. Then apply to eyes. Do not get hairspray in your eyes though. It lasts all day long, no problem. Try it.

Well don't sure powder eye liner, try the avon eye lines pencils, they work wonders, and liquid eye liner does not smudge, you just have to be careful when applying it. and the trick of the powder eye liner then the liquid eye liner does not work as often as you think...if you want to stand there and try a couple hundred times to get it to your satisfaction then go right ahead

Well, aren't you supposed to use powder eyeliner with water anyway? Not as a dry powder, but wetting it first? That's how I do it anyway, but you don't get the more dramatic look that way, it's more subdued lining.
Liquid eyeliner is great for the more dramatic look, but you have to apply it many times before you can have a steady hand and be able to do it well :) But after a couple of times it's not that hard, really.

I actually line my eyes with the Smashbox powder/wax brow duo. The wax keeps the powder in place. Seeing how you already have powder eyeliner, I suggest purchasing a wax that you can use near your eyes, with the powder. Give it a few seconds to harden so it doesn't smudge. It really does work. If you can't find the wax, you should just get the Smashbox duo. Give it a try!!

use MACs fluid line, its a gel based eyeliner u apply with a brush, comes in great colours!! and goes on forever with out smudging. but if you want you can use a prep base- try MACs eye prep, or even MACs paints in a neutral color before your eyeliner and it will stay on ALL day LONG!!!

The trick is to apply your eyeliner before your accent colour eyeshaddow. This way you can easily cover up and mishaps, and you can blend your eyeliner beautifully. Liquid eyeliners will create a more dramatic look.
