Hey guys, I'm going to join the local high school football team next year. Right now I'm 16 and I'll be 17 by the time I join. It will be my first and only year of playing high school football. So I was wondering if it would be posible for me to join a college team? I'm not saying this is were I'm trying to go in life. But I was just curious.

I meant to say would it be possible for me to join a college football team after only playing 1 year of high school football. Because I'll be a senior next year.

Thanks for all the answers guys, I have another question as well. Do college scouts look at the smaller high schools? Or will they only look if they hear about a good player?

Yes, you can walk onto a college football team in DIV III without any experience whatsoever.
Once you start going to schools where scholarships are provided...you're competing against kids that are "paid" college money to play...
and kids that HOPE to get college money in the future...
competition gets increasingly more intense.

Unlikely, you must remember the other guys on that college team will have played at least 3 years of high school along with jr high and a few years before that. Plus if it is a scholarship college they'll be some of the better high school players from your area at the least.

If you have played other sports and are a great athlete it is possible. Talk to some colleges about your chances playing with them. You'll have a very short time to prove yourself to get onto a college team for your freshman year. Good luck.

possible but extremely unlikely unless you start immediately and become an animal. also alot of smaller colleges have open tryouts at the beginning of the year, there is more of a chance getting in through tryouts than getting noticed playing only one year in high school.

Skip all that you go on and talk to the pros before you waste anymore time. You would be smart to start with a winning team and the Colts are looking pretty good. You might talk to Peyton Manning and see if you would like to be a quarterback.

If you are good enough then yes. If you can wow everyone then the scouts will come. But you might also need to send game tapes to college coaches so they know about you.

I would say if you posses blazing speed or outstanding size...Yes. You can't teach those qualities and they are two things that are always in demand. You may not get a scholarship and you may have to walk on at a div III school though.

it might be really tough but you could pull it off. a lot of good players didnt start until late high school; take matt leinart, he started playing football in 10th grade just to avoid people pickin on him. look how he turned out.

Id say no. One year really isnt enough time to show your abilities..unless your one hell of a player and manage to break some old single season records.
