Unfortunately there is no way of preventing them from happening. Stretch marks are scar tissue, so it's just like getting a really bad cut or burn. It's going to leave a scar and there isn't much you can do to get rid of it, besides plastic surgery I guess. You can try cocoa butter lotion and vit. e oil. These won't make them go away, but will probably reduce the color and visibility.

They tend to be genetic, but I've heard some women swear by rubbing cocoa butter in their skin and drinking lots of water so their skin stays supple and doesn't tear easily. Never worked for me; my mom had them too. But that's just me.
After years of battling infertility, I was so happy to have my daughter that now I fondly see my stretch marks as memories of her journey in my body.
Directly after the birth of your child, the only exercises you should do are gentle pelvic (keigel) exercises; situps and the like should wait until at least four to six weeks, until your uterus has gone back to size, as exercising before this point increases the risk of uterine prolapse.

There is a lotion out there that helps the stretch marks be less visible. I am not sure the name of the lotion, but if you go to your local Target and ask the pharmacist they would be able to help you.

I really don't mean to sound so rude, but you're pregnant - the last thing you need to worry about is stretch marks!
If you're that bothered about it, then try Vitamin E cream.
