should H.R. 1022 the ban on "assault" weapons be brought back----my answer is hell no, it does no good, and a gun ban is a step that Hitler took...and we all know what happened there

What exactly is an assault weapon? I have an old black powder rifle that is the same used in the revolutionary war to assault the British. I have a really nice British Enfield 1853 Rifled Musket that was the standard rifle used by the Confederate Army. Lets see what else, service grade M1, M1903 Springfield, Colt AR-15 Match Grade and my pride and joy a M16A2 fully automatic rifle (licensed and registered). Now at one time or another these were used to assault other combatants (except the AR). The are all currently legal and registered where required by law.

What would the possible purpose be of outlawing any or all of those?

Who heeds laws anyway, law abiding citizens. Criminals on the other hand do not, if they want a certain weapon they go get one, laws or not.

We have more laws on weapons than we need, what we need is enforcement of existing laws. When a criminal commits a crime with a weapon he should be put away, not plea bargained or given probation.

The issue in America is not weapons it is criminals.

And do not fail to remember two things, first the Second Amendment states it is an individuals right to own firearms and the founders purpose was for the citizens to be able to protect themselves from tyrannical government, and secondly tyrannical governments will go after your guns first before they take the rest of your rights.

Hitler did it to the Jews and the Democrat playbook on gun control follows Hitlers plan almost to the letter.

The communists did it and the socialists in our congress are trying. Why, so they can take control of ALL OF OUR RIGHTS.

There is no point to bringing it back.

There are so many flaws in the concept of the law that it is pointless anyway.

The law breaks down into a ban on guns that 'look scary'.

I'm not even going to go into all the Constitutional issues with this law...Of which there are many.

For those of you who need to learn, here is a great set of facts on guns - ESPECIALLY those of you who are pro-gun-control, read it and become educated.

EDIT: To the person above, "NEED"? The Constitution says nothing about "NEED". What NEED do you have for a computer? More than one? What NEED do you have for more than one vehicle? I'm sure you can get by with only 1. Or an SUV? I'd bet a hatchback fits society's needs better. And THOSE possessions are NOT protected by the Constitution.

I do not NEED to have ANY "NEED" to own ANY gun. I can collect them, enjoy them, shoot them, whatever. It is a protected right. If you start picking and choosing 'types' of firearms that are protected, I can start picking and choosing what types of first amendment devices you can use.

I think trying to compare the assault weapons ban and Hitler is more then a stretch! I still wonder why people think they need an AK-47 around the house anyway.
