The best thing for you to do would be to go to your local university library and check out the political science journals that they have on reserve. There will be tons of back issues that you can go through to find what you need. Some of the better journals that I have used for previous research are
"American Political Science Review",
"Political Science Quarterly",
"American Journal of Political Science" -- a really good one.

If you are lucky, you can check out scholar.google.com, and they may carry some articles, its a nifty site to use. If not, those three journals are the best that I have found.
