I have PCOS and was once diagnosed with Insulin Resistance as well. My husband and I tried for 7 years to conceive a child without success. We finally went to see a reproductive endocrinologist (an RE) that examined me, took my history and then prescribed Clomid (in pill form) coupled with HCG (injections) to help force ovulation. We conceived on our third round of these drugs. I carried to term and we delivered a beautiful, healthy baby girl. We now have two kids! Our second child, our son, was a natural conception and a real surprise! I never thought I'd ovulate on my own but...surprise!! :)

You probably need to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. Depending on your insurance you might need a referral. Hopefully you have a doctor that is familiar with PCOS and IR that will give you the referral if needed.

You can email me if you'd like to chat. There are wonderful support groups out there specifically for women with PCOS who are trying to conceive...

My best friend sat and watched me get pregnant and have three healthy, beautiful babies (when I had 3 already when we met), unable to get pregnant herself. When I was pregnant the last time, she had started seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist, due to the many issues she was dealing with that seemed to prevent ovulation: PCOS, endometriosis, and something else I can't remember. She had never been pregnant (to her knowledge), and did ovulate sporadically, but even when ovulation seemed certain to have occurred, still no pregnancy followed.

Besides doing a few rounds with Clomid (unsuccessfully), she also started seeing a chiropractor who also practiced some Eastern philosophies. Nothing too "out there", but she did some acupuncture treatments and such besides the chiro. She changed a lot of things in her diet, after finding that she had multiple food sensitivities (including wheat, which is almost impossible to avoid in the American diet!). All of this helped her get to a point where she felt the healthiest she'd ever been.

Eventually she went through a couple of rounds of IVF before she finally FINALLY became pregnant with her precious son. He is 9 months old now. If you ask her, though, what helped her get pregnant in the end was changing her outlook from nervous and hopeful, to trusting and having faith that it was really going to happen for them this time. Before, she prayed, "Please, God...", but the last time it was, "Thank you, God!"

I know this isn't anything solid to go on, but this was her experience. I hope it helps somehow.

hi, we have a similar situation but i donno why my wife is so hard to get pregnant. we went to see doctor and paid a lot medication fee because doctor gave my wife clomid and helped us to see what day is our fertility days, then doctor asked us to buy the fertility test. It is costly, because one test cost me about S$7, and one cycle needs about 5 to 10 tests. my wife cycle days is not stable, sometime is 35 days , sometime even 45 days. It is really costly. Then my friend recommend me to buy one ovulotion kit called " Clearblue/Clearplan fertility monitor. This monitor helped us to measure our fertility days. We used it for 3 months and my wife got pregnant , and we now have a cute baby boy age 2 . these two years (after we have a baby boy), we try to conceive naturely without any fertility monitor to assits us. but then still no good news. we were so dissapointed, and these few months, my wife started using the fertility monitor again, till now haven't got any news. I highly recommend u to use this , it's because it's cheaper compare to others. Their monitor sticks, one sticks cost about S$3-$4 only.
