Small forwards or swingmen are usually tasked to defend the perimeter, double up on the big men around the paint and chase the scorers on the switch. Scottie Pippen was a prototype small forward. Hence, these guys must possess speed and quickness, especially of feet. Small forwards should build up their upper body in order to have that sudden burst of speed during short sprints from one part of the basketball court to another. Of course, leg workouts are a must but with high repetitions for speed. They should also do lots of sprinting and jumping exercises.

core exercises.

strengthen your body (shoulders, chest, abs, lower/upper back, basically everything minus your legs and arms). this will help you with your overall balance, generate power, and help you with overall speed and reflexes.

get a core ball (those giant "Yoga" balls) and/or medicine balls to help you. swimming helps too since it'll work out your entire body. someone also said to try running laps in a swimming pool but you can just take that at face-value.
