I do understand what does a''bedrest'' mean, but now i am confused with a person i know, and was advised to stop working and have a bedrest, she is a 7 mos. on the way, and over 35, and the baby size is smaller that what is supposed to be, if it says bedrest and had stop working maybe she stays in the bed in the daytime, but she goes out to dine in relatives houses or restaurant, what would be the effect on the baby?Isn't it when bedrest is strictly just in the bed, kinda worried but I'm just hesitant to ask coz she was a doctor, I would say she knows better than me.

Well, actually, she could be on modified bedrest, which would allow her to go out every now and then. I myself am on modified bedrest. I go out to eat all the time with my fiancee and my parents. If she is on complete bedrest, she is supposed to stay off her feet. But if she's on modified bedrest it just means that she should take it easy and make for less stress. Hope this helped a little!

it depends on what restrictions her doctor put on her. When i have been placed on bedrest it could range from stay home and relax for a few days (no house work or cooking) called modified bedrest to a more sever restricted bedrest where i had to lay on my left side and even use a bed pan or bedside potty to go to the bathroom.

The mildest form i have had is 48 hours of rest meaning no sex, stay laying down and calm for most of the day. I was allowed to get up, shower, get something to eat, go to the bathroom. stuff like that.

the most sever that i have had is not being able to get up at all staying on my left side for most of the day.

Ask her what kind of bedrest she is on. what modification is she on (placed by her doctor).

Regardless of the type, she should not be out of the house up and about like that. she was placed on BR for a reason and all she is doing is putting additional stress on her body and her baby.

my last child was small, she was 9 days early and weighed 4lb 1oz, she suffers from growth retardation, which means she stopped growing in my womb at 28 wks. There is nothing wrong with her now, but she still has regular check done at the hospital as she is about the size of a 9-12mth baby but she is now 17mths old. she will always be smaller than average, if the doctor has advised bedrest then i would take it that they meant BEDREST!!!! this baby is entitled to the best start in life, and she would be devastated if something went wrong.

bedrest means bedrest. usually you're only allowed to get up to use the restroom. at 7 months, her baby isn't mature enough.. and will definitely be sent to the NICU if delivered this early. does she really want to chance it? walking around, and participating in certain activities puts stress on a pregnant woman's body, and can bring on a child prematurely. it can also hurt the baby, depending on why she is on bedrest. tell her to stay in bed. she doesn't have much farther to go. she should be more concerned for her baby's well being.

When I was put on bed rest my doctor told me that the farthest I was supposed to go is to my front door. I didn't do that, I went out the whole point is to take it easy and not strain yourself. But what I said is usually what the doctor means if the patient is not liking the orders they can check you again later to see if you are doing good and if all is okay than they will tell to stay on bed rest but take it easy. Every doctor is different so their answers vary.

On bedrest you are only supposed to get up to shower and use the restroom.
You are supposed to keep a supply of food in a basket and cooler at the bedside

i would say your doctor knows better than she does. stay in bed and take it easy or else you will be indangering your babys precious time in the womb... do too much you will onset preterm labor and babys lungs may not be mature enough to handle that.... get a laptop and tv by your bedside and sleep while you can get it... youll need all the sleep you can get.

Bed rest is when you should be resting...
So i'm guess you should just stay at home and rest.
But sometimes you get restless and need to get out of the house..Most people don't stay in all the time when they are on bed rest.

this is serious. she needs to listen her doctor. she could get pre-clamsia and could affect the baby. tell her to stay in bed!
