The moon produces no light what so ever, It merely reflects the suns light. When we get a lunar eclipse, the earth block all of the suns light and we get no moon :(

Only stars are self shining objects in the sky. All others planets or satellites do not give out any light of their own but reflect. Planets and satellites we see because they are illuminated by Sun light.
The case of moon is different. It receives light from sun and also from Earth. On some occasions the sun light that is reflected by earth falls on Moon. As Earth is not a good reflector very limited light gets reflected on to the moon.
The lit by Earth reflection can be watched on 2 or 3 days after new moon. Just watch out in the evening sky after the sun set before the moon sets. The moon will be in crescent shape with sun light and the remaining moon can also be seen in very dull shade. Watch at http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/earthshine/

The moon does not shine by its own light, but by the reflected light of the sun. We see the moon because the sun is shining on it. The surface of the moon is actually very rocky and fairly dark (about the color of the asphalt on most of our city roads). But because it is so close to the earth, it provides enough light at night to cast shadows when it is full or nearly full.

Some scientists think that the moon has a magma inside of it and as you know, magma produces light. Now if you turn a flashlight on and bury it, is the flashlight still producing light? If you said yes to that question and the moon does have magma, then you would be right.
If you are talking about the surface of the moon, then you would be wrong.

In the words of Calvin Coolidge...You lose.
The moon reflects light from the sun. Did you think the moon turns itself off or something when the moon is dark or when it's only half lit?

everything that (except a black hole) has a temperature higher than 0 K emits infrared light.
so we could say that the moon has it's own light, but as we know the reflect light of sun is much more stronger than its own.
but we should point out that the light is not the normal visible light, but infra-red light.

You lost your money, I'm afraid. The moon reflects the sun shining on it. Without the sun you could not see the moon.
